Tuition

The graduate certificate program is a self-sustaining, fee-based program charged on a cost per credit basis. Tuition is the same regardless of citizenship status or Washington state residency. Payment is processed through UW Professional & Continuing Education, a part of the UW Continuum College.

Tuition rates

2023-24 academic year cost per credit is $963 USD.

The program curriculum requires students to complete 18 credits. Students study part time and enroll in two classes each quarter (autumn, winter, and spring), taking six credits per quarter, and completing the program in nine months.

Based on the 2023-24 cost per credit tuition rate, students can estimate their expenses:

  • Quarterly cost (six credits): $5,778
  • Total cost of tuition fees to complete the program in nine months: $17,334

Additional fees

In addition to tuition, students are responsible for additional UW required student fees at the beginning of each quarter, estimated at $500 per quarter. Fees are determined by campus: view UW Bothell student fees. Graduate students in our fee-based programs also pay a Professional & Continuing Education registration fee.

Course fees vary and are viewable in the students MyUW account, and do not include costs for materials such as textbooks, additional course fees, or software.

Funding

Students in all fee-based programs are ineligible for the state employee tuition exemption program, institutional tuition waivers or the Undergraduate/Graduate University Grant programs, including the Husky Promise program.

Some employers will cover all or part of the cost of a professional education. Check with your employer to see if they offer educational assistance.
