Merit Scholarships, Fellowships and Awards

What are merit scholarships, fellowships and awards?

Merit scholarships, fellowships and awards are forms of financial support and recognition given to individuals based on their academic performance, extracurricular involvements, goals for the future and so much more. Beyond financial assistance, they facilitate professional development to achieve a goal such as research, public service, or graduate study, both within the United States or overseas.

Merit scholarships can fund existing activities or provide additional enrichment opportunities. They can range from short-term opportunities to long-term funding. Award amounts range from $500 to $50,000.

How to get started

We highly encourage you to participate in experiential learning programs, activities, and initiatives supported by the Office of Connected learning. These experiences will not only help you refine your interests and goals, but they also align perfectly with what scholarship committees often look for in applicants.

We provide guidance from the time you enroll at UW Bothell through your participation in experiential learning, that can be leveraged to pursue scholarships and enrichment opportunities. We will work with you to effectively display your qualifications through the application materials and support you in discovering pathways to more advanced opportunities.

Start your scholarship search by exploring the Undergraduate Scholarships and Awards that build on connected learning experiences. This selection of scholarship opportunities is not exhaustive; numerous other scholarships are available. Searching and competing for scholarships can be time-consuming, but we are here to provide assistance!
