Campus computing resources for students

UW Bothell students have access to a range of computing resources across campus, regardless of their major. The information below provides links for how to access and learn more about what computing resources are available to students.

Student laptop and WiFi hotspot checkout

The Student Technology Fee (STF) Committee has approved the purchase of Windows operating system laptops and hotspots.

Open Learning Lab

The Open Learning Lab (OLL) is the only dedicated drop-in computer lab at UWB. It is open to all students, regardless of major. OLL Student tutors offer in-person support and assistance with digital media software and campus eLearning tools.

  • To learn more about how to access this lab virtually, as well as virtual tutoring support, visit the Open Learning Lab webpage.

Virtual lab

This temporary emergency service has been extended in a limited capacity through December 2021. As we transition this service, we anticipate it to become available fall quarter 2021. This allows students to Remote Desktop from any off-campus computer to on-campus UW Bothell computers. By connecting to our computers, students will have access to software needed for coursework that they may not have at home. To access the virtual lab, visit the Remote Computer Access for UWB Students webpage.

Library

There are nearly 100 student-funded computer workstations in the Library for use by UW and Cascadia College students, staff, and faculty for academic purposes. These workstations provide access to databases and online resources licensed by the University of Washington Libraries, Microsoft Office software, email and internet access. The Library also has some laptops for checkout

Makerspace

The UW Bothell Makerspace is a creative environment located on the first floor of Discovery Hall. The Makerspace is a free resource for students, faculty, and staff and is equipped with tools such as 3D printers, laser cutters, a vinyl cutter, sewing machines and more.
