Mission statement

UW Bothell has expanded the role of the CARE team to create a “sole designation” model. This allows faculty, staff, parents and students the ability to contact all support services for students in one location. The goal is to create a user-friendly experience for our community while providing student support from the appropriate campus experts. We strive to provide private, proactive and supportive consultation, assessment, response, and education regarding students who may be in distress or at risk.

Submit a report

Support services for students at UWB may be obtained by completing the online report.

Designate who should receive the report:

  • UWB Student Emergency Award
  • Bias Support Team
  • CARE Team
  • Student Conduct Office
  • UWB Victim Advocate Services

Academic Alerts are no longer made to the CARE Team. Please use EAB Navigate to submit any concerns regarding a student’s academic performance.

If you aren’t sure which to select, use the “CARE Team” option and the
CARE Team Chair will send notification or referral to the appropriate team.

Reports will be responded to within one business day.*

Bias Support Team Services

Reasons to contact:

  • Incidents of bias or perceived bias toward you
  • You observe an incident of bias or perceived bias toward others
  • May complete the report anonymously if that is your preference

Response options may include:

  • Gather information regarding bias incident
  • Connect those who experienced bias or identity-based violence with support and advocacy resources
  • Coordinate with campus bodies to support community healing and educational outreach
  • Work with institutional resources to explore avenues for minimizing or preventing future incidents of bias

CARE Team Services

Reasons to contact:

  • Concern for student’s well-being
  • Financial or situational crisis
  • Significant change in student’s behavior
  • Disruptive of learning, living, or work environment

Response options may include:

  • Assess a student’s well-being in terms of emotional, social, economic, familial, or medical issues that are affecting day to day living
  • Respond in a caring, non-threatening manner
  • Make appropriate on campus or off campus referrals
  • Provide consultation as appropriate
  • Educate the UW Bothell community on how to assess and respond to student distress

Student Conduct Office Services

Reasons to contact:

  • Behavioral misconduct
  • Academic misconduct
  • Classroom management

Response options may include:

  • Educational coaching and resources
  • Provide consultation and advisement
  • Informal and formal conduct case adjudication
  • Mediation and restorative justice approach

UWB Victim Advocacy Services

Reasons to contact:

  • Student has experienced sexual misconduct, sexual assault, relationship violence, domestic violence, stalking, sexual harassment or other related experiences
  • Student is unsure about an experience and wants a confidential advocate to provide support

Response options may include:

  • Learn about common reactions to sexual assault, relationship violence, domestic violence, stalking, sexual harassment and find a path that fits your personal recovery
  • Safety planning, change in class schedule, referral to community support services
  • Learn about your rights and reporting options

2) What can I expect when I contact a member of the CARE Team?

  • Knowledge that your concerns about a student’s well-being will be addressed

3) When should I call SafeCampus?

  • Call SafeCampus when your concerns have to do with preventing violence, such as potential threats to the safety of anyone on our campus: (425) 352-SAFE (7233).
  • Still unsure? Don’t worry. Just make the call. They will appreciate your concern and will be happy to assist you.

4) How can I support students in distress?

  • Use The Purple Sheet to follow steps and learn about more resources

* Consultation requests made after 5:00pm are considered to be received on the following business day. (For example, a consultation request sent at 5:15pm on Wednesday will be received on Thursday, and a response will be provided by Friday.)
