Jennifer Gess (’07, Community Psychology) began an adjunct faculty position at Seattle University this spring. She is also a full-time professor for Walden University, and for both institutions, she teaches in their graduate counseling departments. Kylani Arrington enhances her passion for mental health counseling

Alum Kylani Arrington (’13) majored in Community Psychology as a pathway to becoming a mental health counselor. Aisha Qadri presents research on child labor at Scholar’s Studio

Aisha Qadri (’15) presented her research on oppressive child labor at Scholar’s Studio, a series of lightening talks by UW graduate students and post-docs. In the 1930’s President Roosevelt sought to protect adults and children against unfair labor practices by creating the Fair Labor and Standards Act. Natalie Singer releases memoir: California Calling: A Self-Interrogation

This week alum Natalie Singer (’16, Creative Writing & Poetics) releases her memoir, California Calling: A Self-Interrogation. Singer will discuss her memoir at Elliott Bay Books on March 5, joined in conversation by Sonora Jha, Hugo House Prose Writer-in-Residence and author of Foreign. On March 13 Singer will appear at Lit Fix, Seattle’s bar-friendliest reading and music series, hosted at Chop Suey.

Corbin Louis selected for 2018 Jack Straw Writers Program

The Jack Straw Writers Program was created in 1997 to introduce local writers to the medium of recorded audio, to develop their presentation skills for both live and recorded readings, to encourage the creation of new literary work, and to provide new venues for the writers and their work.
