ARC Employment Opportunities

The ARC Mission is, to provide a place for the campus to connect through community and play. The ARC is home to three rec programs (Intramural Activities, Fitness, and Outdoor Wellness), and our Events and Facilities team. All of these programs are opportunities for student engagement and student employment. Intramural Activities, Student Official: Intramural Staff oversee the program by supervising and officiating all organized sports and activities. No officiating experience needed. Individuals participate in officiating a variety of sports, leading captain’s meetings, program promotions, and peer evaluation. They are responsible for on-site risk management, enforce all department policies, and provide on-going constructive space for participants and program improvement. Staff must be able to implement policies and playing rules in order to maintain an appropriate level of control, fairness, and safety.

Outdoor Wellness Leader: Outdoor Wellness Trip Leaders fill a vital leadership role on campus. Leaders develop, market, co-lead, and facilitate day and overnight outdoor adventures, such as canoeing, rock climbing, hiking, camping, etc. Leaders will receive significant training on wilderness skills, outdoor activity instruction, risk management, and environmental practices to reduce risks while in the field.

Group Fitness Instructor: Group Fitness Instructors are responsible for leading and delivering group fitness instruction ranging in variety and level from aerobic activity, muscular strength, stretch, dance, or yoga.

Fitness Center Attendants: Fitness Center Attendants are primarily responsible for providing a clean and safe workout environment for participants in the Fitness Center. Fitness Center Attendants will create an inclusive, welcoming, and safe environment for patrons and ensure patrons are following all policies. They will be trained in CPR/AED and First Aid and work closely with Fitness Instructors as well as the Fitness Center Desk.

Building Manager:  The ARC Building Manager is an integral part of the ARC department and will work with the Assistant Director and other Professional Staff to assist in the daily management of the facility operations and program areas within the ARC.  ARC Building Managers will provide leadership, professionalism, and service to all students and staff to support the mission and values of the ARC and institutions. Under the supervision of the Assistant Director- ARC Facilities & Events, the Building Manager is an essential part of the team that ensures ARC patrons and student staff follow policies and procedures. The Building Manager is responsible for safety and security within the building and acts as a mentor and leader to other ARC student employees.

Information Desk Attendant: Within the Activities and Recreation Center, the Front Desk staff supports events and activities within the facility. The staff in this role support the daily operations of the ARC, and events that take place within the ARC, provide excellent customer service and assist with inquiries and check-out items.
