My name is Cinthya (pronouns she/ they) and I’m a first-generation high school and college graduate who earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology and a master’s degree in education from Notre Dame de Namur University located in Silicon Valley. I recently moved to the Pacific Northwest and joined the Academic Learning Commons as the Academic Success Coach in October 2022.
In my role as an academic success coach, I collaborate with students, faculty, and staff to support individuals in their academic and professional goals. I welcome conversations around college transition, privilege, systematic oppression, and the ways our identities impact our educational experience. As a quality educator I’m committed to helping students reach their highest potential in life by becoming an ally and helping them navigate the rigor of higher education.
During my college journey I faced many obstacles such as social belonging, time management, work life balance, financial literacy, as well as academic rigor. As a first-generation scholar, I believe that navigating campus resources and asking for help is the best way to self-advocate and break barriers such as: financial aid, registering for classes, removing holds on your accounts, study skills, attending office hours, accessing resources, and planning for your future.
As your academic success coach I’m here to help bring clarity, direction, and positive support. I encourage individuals to ask me about my failures, mistakes, lessons learned, and success stories. Individuals can meet with me in-person or through an online Zoom conference for 1-1 coaching and assistance anytime during the academic year.
In my free time, I enjoy traveling, trying new restaurants, exploring nature, reading, meditating, spending quality time with my loved ones, cold water therapy, jui jitsu, yoga, and listening to music among others.
