Yolanda Padilla and Janelle Silva honored at UW Latinx Faculty Recognition

IAS faculty members Yolanda Padilla and Janelle Silva have been selected for recognition at the 3rd Annual Latinx Faculty Recognition Event on May 2nd. This year, 33 Latinx faculty across the tri-campuses of the University of Washington were selected. Twenty-four of the honorees are from the UW Seattle campus, five honorees from UW Bothell, and four honorees from UW Tacoma.

Amber Shirk recognized as one of Tacoma’s top volunteers

Alum Amber (Monson) Shirk has always been involved in her community, but her engagement has only deepened since graduating from the M.A in Policy Studies (MAPS) program in 2017. The book brings together an eclectic collection of 19 essays, conversations and reports intended to reach beyond regions and compartmentalized disciplines. The book hopes to broaden the horizons of what we call ‘The Caribbean’ both geographically and intellectually.
