Lauren Lichty wins UW Bothell Mentor Award

lauren lichty wins uw bothell mentor award

IAS faculty member Lauren Lichty and is one of two UW Bothell faculty that received the 2017 Chancellor’s Distinguished Undergraduate Research and Creative Practice Mentor Award. Lichty joined IAS in 2013 and found the undergraduate mentoring process to be a particularly rewarding part of her career. Nominated by peers and students, Lichty’s mentoring philosophy centers on meeting students where they are and allowing the work to flow from that starting point. One student writes that Lichty, “embodies everything that a student could hope for in a mentor and I feel incredibly fortunate to have her guidance and support. I now not only recognize my own abilities because of her… She has transformed my future goals.”

Lichty’s research focuses on participatory practice, youth as agents of social change, sexual and relationship violence prevention and response to survivors, and sexual health. She is a faculty adviser to two student clubs: SAVE (Sexual Assault and Violence Education) and Social Justice and Community Psychology Club.

Congratulations Lauren!
