Rebecca Brown’s The Gifts of The Body adapted for theater performance in Japan

IAS faculty member Rebecca Brown’s 1994 novel, The Gifts of The Body, has been adapted for theater and performed at the Sapporo Cultural Arts Community Center in Sapporo, Japan. Brown’s novel tells the story of a home-care aid who helps people living with AIDS, and received many awards including The Lambda literary Award, The Boston Book Review Award, etc., It was also widely translated, including into Japanese by Motoyuki Shibata, who also translates Paul Auster, Thomas Pynchon, Brian Evenson and others.
