Marth Groom and Dave Stokes: “Using Case Studies to Improve the Critical Thinking Skills of Undergraduate Conservation Biology Students”

IAS faculty members Martha Groom and Dave Stokes published an article on effective pedagogies for enhancing critical thinking among students. Groom and Stokes worked with colleagues across the country in a study using case study pedagogies coupled with the use of rubrics and exercises to enhance self-reflection among students. The study showed higher gains in many aspects of critical thinking among students across a single term. Fun fact: UW Bothell students showed the highest gains! The study is published in Case Studies in the Environment.
