Anida Yoeu Ali exhibits in Fragilità with support of The Embassy of Italy in Kuala Lumpur

IAS faculty member Anida Yoeu Ali was selected as one of four Southeast Asian artists to exhibit alongside Italian artists in an immersive online group exhibition titled “Fragilità.” “Fragilità” is curated by Alberto Salvadori, director of Fondazione ICA Milano, Luigi Fassi, director of MAN in Nuoro, and Lim Wei Ling, director of the Wei Ling Gallery in Kuala Lumpur, and it is organized with the support of the Italian Embassy in Malaysia. “Fragilità” began on Instagram channel @particle____ from March 3-10, 2021 with platform access and public program found on the Fragilità website.

The exhibition investigates the concept of fragility in contemporary art production, through the works of eight artists, four Italian and four Malaysian artists: Anida Yoeu Ali, Riccardo Benassi, Anurendra Jegadeva, MASBEDO, Maria D. Rapicavoli, Wong Chee Meng, Francesco Simeti, Rajinder Singh. Between the digital and the real, impalpable forms of thought and the concreteness of emotions, the exhibition builds an encircling path where the matter of art is translated into a transformative experience offered to the guests and their sensitivities.

In the words of curators Alberto Salvadori, Luigi Fassi, and Lim Wei Ling: “Fragility is a constantly unstable balance but also something that exists as an essential element, in every moment of the human condition. Fragility is also a state of grace, an element of formation and growth through experiences in every age of life, a foundational condition of the adventure of interpersonal experiences.”

This exhibition is a direct curatorial response to the recent health, economic and social crisis that has hit the world due to the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic making it clear that fragility is a condition of the human being and our society.
