IAS faculty member Maryam Griffin published “Transcending Enclosures by Bus: Public Transit Protests, Frame Mobility, and the Many Facets of Colonial Occupation” in Critique of Anthropology. The article is part of a special issue called “Occupations in Context: The Cultural Logics of Occupation, Settler Violence, and Resistance,” co-edited by Dr. Mona Bhan (Syracuse University) and Dr. Haley Duschinski (Ohio University). Griffin’s contribution discusses the ways that Palestinian activists in three key bus-themed protests moved among frames of “apartheid,” “occupation,” and “colonialism” to represent their living conditions and connect with diverse solidarity audiences.
