Mitoha Ondo’o Ayekaba named 2017 African Leadership Institute Archbishop Tutu Leadership Fellow

Former Policy Studies student Mitoha Ondo’o Ayekaba has been named to the 2017 African Leadership Institute Tutu Leadership Fellowship Programme cohort. As African Leadership Institute’s (AFLI) flagship programme, the Tutu Leadership Fellowship Programme welcomes an elite group of Africa’s highest potential young leaders, representing a wide range of sectors. AFLI is dedicated to identifying, nurturing, and equipping Africa’s future leaders with experiences, insights, and tools so that African-led solutions are developed to address Africa’s challenges. The Institute provides a platform for a diverse network of young African leaders to network and engage in peer-to-peer learning and cross-border collaborations. Working with a select group of partners, leading academics, and accomplished global leaders, AFLI facilitates opportunities for young leaders to create a new Africa.

Mitoha is the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Coordinator at Marathon Oil Equatorial Guinea Production Limited (MEGPL). Prior to this, he worked as MEGPL’s Business Coordinator since 2009, serving as the Resident Manager’s main advisor for the best social investment strategy and engagement with the local government. He led the production of the company first ever Enterprise Risk Management System. In 2012, he was promoted as MEGPL’s CSR Coordinator, being responsible for the successful implementation of the Bioko Island Malaria Control Project (BIMCP). Soon after, he helped secure the funding of this project by coordinating the signing of a new phase. With the hope of eradicating malaria from the Bioko Island and the entire country, Mitoha coordinated the efforts to have the country joint the international consortium of the PfPZ vaccine and to create and fund the Equatorial Guinea Malaria Vaccine Initiative (EGMVI), another multi-million dollar project also operating under a Public Private Partnership mechanism between various oil companies (MEGPL, Noble Energy and AMPCO) with the Government of Equatorial Guinea.
