IAS faculty member Barbara Noah co-directed her third iteration of, Interdisciplinary Studio Art & Italian Culture, a UW Study Abroad program at the University of Washington Rome Center. Noah created the program for students from UW Bothell, as well as the Seattle and Tacoma campuses. This year, the students visited art and cultural sites in and outside Rome, explored concepts and processes in ancient through contemporary art, and created studio art informed by their experiences in Italy and their own interdisciplinary and research interests. Students also studied Italian language and culture, including topics such as immigration and Italian stereotypes. The program culminated in the creation of their own series of artworks and a studio exhibition open to the public.
