How does UW Bothell clean and disinfect during COVID-19?

The UW Environmental Health & Safety Department (EH&S) has established cleaning and disinfection protocols for campus partners that comply with guidelines from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) for preventing the spread of coronavirus.

Custodial Services follows these cleaning and disinfection protocols to daily clean/disinfect high touch points such as door handles, banisters, and elevator buttons, public and common area restrooms, and break rooms. Custodial staff have also increased the frequency of preventive cleaning and disinfection activities across campus. At this time all campus classrooms have been disinfected and nearly all have been secured except those designated for use. Signage has been posted on all disinfected/secured classrooms to indicate that entry is currently prohibited.

Hand sanitizer dispensers with at least 60% alcohol concentration have been placed throughout the campus in high traffic areas and locations where soap and water are not readily available.

When a person diagnosed with COVID-19 is known to have been on campus, EH&S will be notified immediately to evaluate the specific locations where the person spent time (in accordance with guidance from the CDC). A contracted cleaning crew will be instructed to disinfect all affected areas, and notification will go out to impacted department(s). Additional information on cleaning protocol can be found here.

Additional information is available from UWB Corona Virus website on how we are responding to the novel coronavirus.
