First Year Student Roadmap to Elementary Teacher Certification

Step 1

Admission to UW Bothell as a first-year student.

Visit the UW Bothell Office of Admissions.

Step 2

Meet with a pre-major advisor to develop an academic plan.

Visit the Pre-Major Advising Office.

Step 3

Complete Educational Studies major declaration requirements: B WRIT 134 & 45 college-level credits.

Apply to the Educational Studies major in Spring Quarter of your first year.

Step 4

Complete Academic Breadth, SES Core & Foundation Courses, along with all Elementary Education Option declaration requirements.

Join the Elementary Education Option.

Step 5

Begin cohorted teaching methods courses in Spring Quarter.

Elementary Education program requirements.

Step 6

Begin student teaching in late summer through Autumn and Winter Quarters. Continue cohorted methods classes and begin endorsement courses.

Step 7

Complete endorsement coursework, degree requirements, and certification requirements.

Step 8

Graduate with your Bachelor’s degree and be recommended for Washington State Teacher certification!


Transfer Student Roadmap to Elementary Teacher Certification

Step 1

Admission to UW Bothell and to the Educational Studies major as a transfer student.

Visit the UW Bothell Office of Admissions.

Step 2

Meet with an SES advisor develop an academic plan.

Step 3

Complete Academic Breadth, SES Core & Foundation Courses, along with all Elementary Education Option declaration requirements.

Join the Elementary Education Option.

Step 4

Begin cohorted teaching methods courses in Spring Quarter.

Elementary Education program requirements.

Step 5

Begin student teaching in late summer through Autumn and Winter Quarters. Continue cohorted methods classes and begin endorsement courses.

Step 6

Complete endorsement coursework, degree requirements, and certification requirements.

Step 7
