Initiatives
Below is a comprehensive list of everything ASUWB has been working on this year and in the past. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
Campus Voter Project
The Campus Voter Project is a collaborative effort between the Washington BUS, Fuse Washington, and the Washington Student Association to grow and mobilize youth and student voting power. ASUWB worked with these organizations to encourage our student body to pledge to vote, learn about local, state, and national politics, and become more civically engaged.
Learn moreStudent of the Month
Every month of the academic year, you can apply to be considered for our Student of the Month award! The winner receives a shoutout on our social medias and website, and will attend an end-of-the-year celebration with the other students of the month. Formed in 1982, the WSA is a lobbying group run by and for students, to amplify their voices in the legislative process for the benefit of public higher education. Advocating for students since 1982. ASUWB has been and continues to be deeply involved with the WSA; this year, we attended the Fall General Assembly (pictured above) to confirm the legislative agenda. WSA will convene again in the Spring to continue its advocative work.
Learn moreCampus Safety
As our residential population expands, ASUWB is seeking to improve the presence of campus safety to meet these new demands. We’re pushing for increased lighting throughout campus and along 110th street, modifications to police presence on campus, the installation of surveillance cameras in parking garages, and we’re meeting with student advocates to discuss concerns surrounding the relationship between UWB and Bothell PD.
Learn moreAcademic School Advisory Groups
Building on the School of Business Advisory Group pilot program launched last year, which sees a group of Business students meet regularly with Dean Rajib Sanyal to identify areas of concern and improvement, we are working to establish similar programs in our other schools. Reach out to Vice President Rajbir Sandhu at asuwbvp@uw.edu with questions!
Student Academic Enhancement Fund
Students traveling for educational purposes can apply for an award of up to $1,500 per individual and $4,500 per group to help fund their travel expenses. You can apply for SAEF funds and learn more about the guidelines below:

Common Hour
In recent years, ASUWB has surveyed UW Bothell faculty, staff, and students to gauge interest in a one-hour daily period during which no classes will be scheduled to allow for clubs to meet, committees to convene, students to socialize, and more. Going into the 2024 – 2025 academic year, we’re looking to capitalize on this momentum by discussing implementation with the Registrar’s office this year or next.
On-Campus Dining
ASUWB has been involved in the improvement and expansion of on-campus dining opportunities over the years, most notably by serving on the Food & Dining Advisory Committee to provide student input on the services offered on campus. With the opening of the Terrace Dining Pavilion, ASUWB is seeking student feedback to inform our priorities as we shift towards a residential campus. We’re also discussing provision of free utensils, religious dietary labeling (halal, kosher, etc.), and more ways to advocate for student dining needs.

Student Senate
As of September 2024, ASUWB amended its bylaws to establish a student senate representing five groups of stakeholders across campus: Residential students, academic schools, commuter students, veteran students, and international students. Applications to serve in the 2024-2025 Senate are open now:
Holly the Husky
Holly is our cheerful UWB mascot, and made history as the University of Washington’s first-ever female mascot! Dedicated to spreading the Husky spirit, she pumps-up community excitement and involvement at campus and community events. Residential Life have adopted Holly the Husky, so questions can be directed to uwbreslife@uw.edu.
Activities and Recreation Center (ARC)
The ARC, which serves as the the hub of student life on campus and packed with amenities and resources, began as an joint ASUWB and Cascadia Student Life initiative in 2008. In 2010, a resolution authorizing funding for the programming and pre-design was passed. After approval by the UW Board of Regents in 2013, construction began the following spring and was completed in the Fall of 2015. In September 2014, ASUWB and Cascadia Student Life surveyed their respective student bodies for naming ideas, ultimately settling on the Activities and Recreation Center.
Student Diversity Center
The Diversity Center, located in UW-173, was advocated for by ASUWB to serve as a safe space for UW Bothell students and faculty of UW Bothell to form connections and host events, as well a support for students under DACA.
Our Vision
Is to build strong sustainable relationships that support the university as a leader of innovation in higher education for the region, state and nation.
