The Pathways To Academic Engagement is a series of workshops, panels, speakers, mixers, and other events designed to connect you with your major and with campus co-curricular opportunities. Over the three weeks, you’ll have the opportunity to talk with alumni, advisors, professors, career services, industry professionals, and co-curricular programs and services. Pathways is an opportunity to explore majors, find your passion, and map your path.

Center for Biotechnology Innovation & Training Seminar
Time: 4:30-6:00pm
Location: DISC-162
Are you interested in a major and/or career in biotechnology? Join us to hear from Snehal Patel, Chief Technical Officer (CTO) at Sana Biotechnology! As the CTO, he leads Process/Analytical Development, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, CMC Regulatory, and Technical Quality for Cell and Gene Therapy. His journey began at San Joaquin Delta Community College, followed by a transition from Computer Science at California State University to a Biology major as a pre-optometry student. His career trajectory started as a manufacturing associate at Genentech, with each step building toward his current leadership role in the biotech industry.

Social Justice Careers Panel

Students will listen to UWB alumni involved in social justice careers talk about issues of justice, diversity, equity, and inclusion. This panel is valuable for those who wish to contribute to positive change in the world by pursuing academic paths related to social justice, human rights, or related fields!

Academic Success Speed Networking

The Academic Learning Commons (ALC) invites you to a speed-networking event! Representatives from the ALC (the Writing & Communication Center, the Quantitative Skills Center, and the Academic Success Coach Program) will be hosting an event where you can rotate through sessions with tutors and staff, play games, and learn how to navigate the major application process while accessing valuable support services. Curious about summer research opportunities? “Summer Research Unlocked” is a quick, 1-hour workshop that covers the essentials: where to find programs, tips for a strong application, and strategies to make the most of your experience. Get the insights you need to confidently start your summer research journey and make the most of your application efforts. What is Your Digital Superpower?

This event helps students uncover their “digital superpower” through a quick personality quiz. The superpowers align with skills and topics covered in the Digital Scholars program, like data visualization, project management, and marketing. Come have fun and learn more about Digital Scholars! The application deadline is February 14th.

For those EXPLORING careers in healthcare – let’s talk about tools available to help fuel your search that will allow you to build a professional network along the way. The Health Professions & Natural Science Pathways Manager will share methods for finding job ideas and building human resources to bolster your success with a strong mentor network in health.

Career Networking Mixer
Time: 6:00-8:00pm
Location: UW2-Commons
Hosted by Career Services, this is an informal career conversation mixer for students exploring different career pathways within meta-majors. Students will have the opportunity to talk with recruiters, students, or alumni to learn more about pathways and fields in this meta major and practice networking skills, learn more about career paths and build connections.
No preparation is needed to attend, but question prompt cards will be available to help generate discussion with questions such as:
- What do you think is most important for students to know?
- What interested you in this field and/or career?
- Tell me more about yourself and your role?
- How did you find a fit within this industry?
- What advice do you have for someone considering this pathway?

Journalistic Storytelling Workshop

Join The Husky Herald for an hour-long Journalistic Storytelling Workshop to introduce students to beginning reporting skills and genres, with a fun activity to practice the skills that will be taught. Additionally, we will share information about how to get involved with Student Media platforms on campus. There will be light refreshments provided.

Find Your Path with Community Engagement

Would you like to become involved in community engagement? This workshop will walk you through how to assess your interests and find community opportunities to engage with community on and off campus that match. You will learn more about Community Engaged Learning and Research Courses, Connected Huskies Database, and Cohort Programs all under Office of Connected Learning. We will talk about the benefits of these programs and how to apply/register for them and when the best time will be to during your time at UW Bothell. Advance registration requested.
