NHS Partners with National Association of School Nurses
In a partnership with the National Association of School Nurses, Nursing faculty are conducting a study of school nurses and you may receive a request to participate. The survey launched in March and will continue through June 2016.

NHS Faculty Member, Maureen West, Appointed to WWU Board of Trustees
Western Washington University, in Bellingham, WA, is governed by an eight-member Board of Trustees. One NHS faculty member, Maureen West, has been selected to serve on this Board through September of 2021.

Eleanor Marsh Trujillo, UWB Nursing alum, is one of this year's outstanding nurses honored at the UW Seattle School of Nursing's annual Nurses Recognition Banquet. Eleanor has been awarded the Distinguished Diversity Advocate Award.

Butch de Castro Awarded Five Year Grant
Dr. Butch de Castro, Associate Professor of the UW Bothell School of Nursing & Health Studies, along with collaborators at the UCLA School of Public Health and the University of San Carlos Office of Population Studies (Cebu, Philippines), have been awarded a five-year grant from the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health & Human Development of the National Institutes of Health to study obesity risk in the context of international migration.

Janelle Cruz, Health Studies alumna, says, "the Health Studies major at UW Bothell has prepared me well for my current classes in the global health department." Heather Hewitt Receives Mary Gates Scholarship
Heather Hewitt, a senior in Health Studies, has been awarded a Mary Gates Research Scholarship for her work on The African and Afro-Caribbean Women's Health Study.
