Suspended operations all day 1/17. Classes and services conducted remotely.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. Weather conditions have changed significantly since our last update, and the campus and surrounding areas are still experiencing icy conditions. In light of this, the UW Bothell/Cascadia College campus will be on suspended operations all day today, Wednesday, Jan. 17. Campus is closed and classes and services will be conducted remotely.
Exception: Essential staff will report to campus as usual, and student housing will be open and operational.
The Terrace Dining Pavilion will be open 9 a.m.-8:30 p.m. with all locations inside the pavilion serving food. The Market Pod and Gold Brew will be closed due to the campus closure.
We will continue to monitor conditions and will send additional information for Thursday, Jan. 18, by 5 a.m. Again, we apologize for any inconvenience.

Suspended operations 1/16 at 5:30 p.m., late start 1/17
In light of the National Weather Service advisory for potential freezing rain this evening and conditions lasting until the morning, the UW Bothell/Cascadia College campus will be on remote operations after 5:30 p.m. today [campus will be closed; classes and services will be conducted remotely] and will have a late start at 10 a.m. tomorrow.
Exceptions: Essential staff will report to campus as usual, and student housing will be open and operational.

Great Washington Shakeout Drill, 10/19 at 10:19 a.m.
Today is the Great Washington Shakeout earthquake drill. In the event of an earthquake, remember to DROP or LOCK (wheels), COVER AND HOLD ON. As part of the statewide drill, UW Bothell is conducting a test of all emergency communications tools. In the event of a real emergency, updates will be posted on uwb.edu/emergency or cascadia.edu/services/emergency.

Campus operations on Dec. 1 – updated 7:31 a.m.
The core crisis team has met and based on the current weather advisory, UW Bothell/Cascadia College campus operations will resume at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 1.
Faculty with classes that begin after 11 a.m., please communicate your class plan to your students.
Students, if you have any questions, please contact your professor.
As always, monitor conditions in your area and contact your supervisor with any concerns.

Campus operations on Dec. 1
The core crisis team has met and based on the current winter weather advisory, the UW Bothell/Cascadia College campus will move classes and operations online until at least 11 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 1. The team will reconvene in the morning and will announce by 7 a.m. if the campus will continue with remote operations or resume regular operations after 11 a.m.
Students with classes that begin before 11 a.m., your faculty will make arrangements for how class will be conducted. If you have any questions, please contact your professor.
Staff are advised to work remotely and provide services virtually until 11 a.m. If you have any concerns or technology access questions, please discuss with your supervisor.

Suspended operations Dec. 27
Due to snow and ice on campus and in the region, UW Bothell will suspend operations on Monday, Dec. 27, 2021. This means all on-campus operations are suspended. Non-essential personnel should plan to work remotely as previously scheduled for the week of Dec. 27-30.
All services will continue to be offered online.
The winter weather and freezing temperatures will continue for the next few days. When you do return to campus, please use caution when walking or driving around campus as there may be snow and ice present on walkways, stairways, streets and sidewalks.

Winter weather advisory
The UW Bothell Weather Group is monitoring the snowy conditions on and around our campus and throughout the region. Given minimal activities on our campus during the winter break, campus operations remain normal at this time. Please continue to check this emergency blog and our home page at uwb.edu for the latest information.
Note: all buildings on the UW Bothell campus will be locked from Dec. 27-30 and staff are being asked to work remotely. Faculty and staff can access buildings with the Husky Card; building temperatures will be reduced.
Please use caution when walking or driving on and around our campus. More information will be provided if there is any change in campus operations.

AWS outage
UPDATE Dec. 8. ALL CLEAR. The AWS outage is resolved and services have been restored.
Amazon Web Services is experiencing a major outage which is affecting many services on campus, including Canvas and Panopto. The outage also affects our emergency communications. Omnilert (the platform that runs UW Alert) has warned that service interruptions are possible.UW Bothell website and the Alertus desktop notification tool. We are monitoring the situation and will issue updates on uwb.edu/emergency as needed.
