Chancellor's Student Civic Leadership Award

As a Washington Campus Coalition for the Public Good member institution, UW Bothell has the opportunity each year to recognize two outstanding student leaders with Student Civic Leadership Awards. The awards recognize students who are addressing critical issues on their campuses and in their communities through civic engagement and social entrepreneurship. 


UW Bothell graduate and undergraduate students doing civic engagement work or social entrepreneurship are eligible for nomination. 

Nomination procedure 

Faculty, staff, students and community partners are eligible to submit nominations. Self-nominations are welcome. 

UW Bothell’s chancellor reviews the nominations and selects two recipients annually. 

Please note that nominations for the 2024 awards are closed. 

Criteria for selection 

  • Demonstrates civic engagement and leadership through social entrepreneurship, service, advocacy, campus clubs/organizations, volunteering, and/or work-study positions. 
  • Demonstrates the ability to unite their peers along critical issues while remaining open to ideological solutions that may differ from their own. 

Selection and recognition 

Award recipients will receive the following: 

  • Access to a learning community with other student civic leaders; 
  • Professional development opportunities; 
  • Invitation to the awards ceremony held in Seattle, Washington in April, including networking opportunities with other students; and 
  • Automatic consideration for the Governor’s Student Civic Leadership Award, which includes a financial award for each winner and runner up.
