Recognizing our outstanding staff

Each year UW Bothell celebrates the contributions of our valued staff. This year’s staff appreciation breakfast was a time to honor individuals across our campus who are committed to the success of our students and our campus community. As always, there were lots of laughs thanks to emcee Sean Marsh and lots of pictures to remember the occasion.

Competitive searches bring outstanding faculty

The University of Washington Bothell welcomes 21 new faculty hires in time for the 2016-2017 school year. Eleven are in School of Interdisciplinary Arts & Sciences (IAS). Nine are in School of Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics (STEM). And, one is in the School of Business. Fourteen are lecturers.

Students have impact on engineering program

Students such as Cameron Whalen in the 2-year-old mechanical engineering program are enhancing their education and career prospects through a student chapter of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers. A select group managed a tour last spring of the headquarters of Blue Origin, the spaceship company founded by Amazon’s Jeff Bezos and known for its privacy.

Students have a hit at business pitch

A team co-led by a University of Washington Bothell student Adam Zhu won a $2,500 award in the Buerk Center for Entrepreneurship business plan competition. The Aquapel team won the Smukowski Family Best Sustainable Advantage award that goes to the best sustainable product at the UW’s Foster School of Business competition.
