Verdant Superintendent Robin Fenn said Dean David Allen and his team have created a program in which students and faculty actively engage with the community. Hundreds of students have completed field work in partnership with community organizations such as the Everett Gospel Mission, Compass Health and Senior Services of Snohomish County.

Students often bring needed research and analysis to a community project or program, Fenn said at the award presentation during Verdant’s annual conference Monday in Lynnwood.

The UW Bothell School of Nursing and Health Studies offers two undergraduate and one graduate degree. The Bachelor of Arts in health studies gives students the knowledge and skills to improve the health care of individuals and communities. The Bachelor of Science in Nursing offers two tracks: the RN to BSN for transfer students with an associate degree and an RN license, and a first year entry nursing program. The UW Bothell Master of Nursing program prepares nurses for advanced leadership roles.

Verdant Health, also known as Public Hospital District No. 2, funds health care programs in south Snohomish County, with many education and prevention classes at the Verdant Community Wellness Center in Lynnwood.
