Counting crows in the cloud
In the past, researchers counting University of Washington Bothell’s famous crows might take a photo of them in the air and analyze the photo later. A capstone project by electrical engineering students takes counting crows into the cloud for real-time analysis.

Monday morning finals postponed to Wednesday
A weekend windstorm caused a speed bump for some students driving toward spring break. Monday morning tests had to be postponed because of a power outage. The finals will be rescheduled for Wednesday. Students should check with professors for times.

University of Washington Bothell’s Office of Student Engagement and Activities won a national award for its work to support diversity and inclusion. The American College Personnel Association-College Student Educators International awarded the office the Voice of Inclusion team medallion for the IDEA project.

Alum’s business destroyed in blast
The Mr. Gyros shop owned by University of Washington Bothell alum Sammy Arsheed – also the operator of a popular food truck on campus -- was one of the businesses destroyed in an early-morning natural gas explosion Wednesday in Seattle’s Greenwood neighborhood. Seattle neighbors and friends from UW Bothell are offering support, including pages set up at fundly.com.

T-Mobile partners for $5,000 diversity grant
High school and college students in Washington could win a grant of up to $5,000 and mentoring from T-Mobile to complete a project aimed at solving a diversity issue. Students may apply by March 21 by posting a 3-to-5 minute video on the UW Bothell Facebook page. T-Mobile is partnering with the University of Washington Bothell’s Diversity and Inclusion Conference.
