Hundreds gather for W Day celebration

The University of Washington Bothell campus community came together on Friday, Oct. 20, to celebrate the 162nd birthday of the UW through its annual tri-campus event, W Day. This year’s party at UW Bothell, held on the Plaza, attracted almost 800 people.

More than 30 staff, faculty and student volunteers worked at the event, which was organized by Advancement’s Office of Ceremonies & Events and the Campus Events team. Holly the Husky was also in attendance, joined this year by ambassador dogs from the Washington Alaskan Malamute Adoption League.

At the event, staff and other volunteers gave out a total of 610 shirts, 450 cupcakes, 400 stickers, 500 burgers and 500 beverages. At an alumni table and a salmon-demonstration station hosted by Dr. Jeff Jensen, attendees had the chance to win prizes and giveaways. Rounding out the event was music by UWave Radio and face painting by Gabby Carillo.
