Biography

Prof. Buck arrived at UW Bothell in July 1999 as UWB’s founding chancellor. He was tasked with completing the construction of the Beardslee campus and further developing UWB’s presence in the state, including expanding UWB to a 4-year institution. After stepping down as chancellor, Prof. Buck became the founding director of the Science and Technology Program, which he led into becoming the School of STEM. He also led the creation and establishment of UWB’s Physics Degree offerings. Prof. Buck is a Fellow of the American Physical Society and serves on the Board of Visitors of the College of William & Mary. He is a yachtsman, artist, and long-term meditator.
