Miryha G. Runnerstrom, Ph.D.

Miryha Gould Runnerstrom joined the faculty of the School of Nursing and Health Studies in 2022. Before this, she was a faculty member in the Program in Public Health at University of California, Irvine for over a decade. Miryha completed her MA and PhD in Social Ecology at University of California, Irvine and her BS in Geology at Central Washington University. Her research is interdisciplinary and spans the fields of environmental psychology, public health, and urban planning.
Scholarship
Miryha’s scholarship focuses on the positive health benefits of nature experiences, such as psychological restoration and stress reduction. One goal of her research is to improve health by working to ensure equitable access to green spaces in communities. Miryha’s research interests also include the scholarship of teaching and learning in public health with a particular focus on how students best learn public health information.
