UW Bothell Welcomes Godek as the New Assistant Director of the Business Development Center

BOTHELL, Wash. – The University of Washington Bothell is proud to announce the appointment of John Godek, Ph.D. as the new Assistant Director of the Business Development Center (BDC).

As an experienced educator, scholar and leader in higher education, Godek brings his considerable marketing and managerial skills to lead and plan the Business Plan Competition that will become a strong tradition for UW Bothell students, faculty and the Northwest business community.

The Business Plan Competition will be open to all UW Bothell students and will be held on May 6, 2011. Winners and runners-up will share a $10,000 award, generously provided by a grant from the Herbert B. Jones Foundation. Additionally, the winning student team will be offered an invitation to the BDC’s business incubator and potential access to a variety of start-up resources including capital and crucial business mentoring by successful entrepreneurs and participating faculty.

In addition to his BDC appointment, Godek teaches marketing and entrepreneurship courses at UW Bothell including Entrepreneurial Marketing, New Product Development, and Introduction to Marketing.

Godek earned his Ph.D. in marketing and M.S. in psychology from the University of Michigan, an MBA from the University of Houston - Clear Lake, and a B.S. in management from the U.S. Coast Guard Academy.

In addition to teaching in the Business Program at UW Bothell, Godek had also taught marketing and entrepreneurship at the University of Oregon, as well as teaching leadership and management at the U.S. Coast Guard Academy.
