Not all garden soils are created equal. At UW Bothell, Dr. Melanie Malone investigates contaminants and their prevalence in shared garden spaces like community gardens. Focusing on sites and communities often impacted by pollution, she notes that contaminated soil and marginalized populations often go hand in hand.

Husky 100 recipient Ana Radzi stands out because of the way she commits herself to learning and to the learning of others. As a Muslim, female and person of color, Radzi sees herself not just as a teacher but as someone who can make students believe that they can reach their dreams.

The Environmental Education & Research Center opening this fall at Saint Edward State Park will activate the park for environmental learning, stewardship and leadership through citizen science and field research opportunities for UW Bothell students as well as K-12 students and the local community.

In partnership with the Washington State Nurses Association, two recent graduates of UW Bothell’s Master of Nursing program developed continuing education on workplace violence for nurses.

Layla Taylor, program manager for the Office of Community-Based Learning & Research, found that working remotely allowed her to more easily accommodate partners’ schedules and thus hold more meetings.
