Prof. Sung Receives $50K Unrestricted Gift from Microsoft
June 16, 2011 -- Microsoft generously provided an unrestricted gift of $50,000 to Prof. Sung for his scholarship activities and XNA-based game themed programming assignments for his introductory programming courses.

Dr. Asuncion Earns Prestigious Grant
June 6, 2011 -- Prof. Hazeline Asuncion received a grant from the UW Royalty Research Fund (RRF) to support her research, "Connecting e-Science Information Sources through Automated Data Provenance." The RRF is a highly prestigious and competitive grant (this year, only 27% of submitted proposals were successful) supported by funds from royalty and licensing fee income generated by the University's technology transfer program. Total support from the RRF, the RRF Scholar Program, and a UW Bothell Internal Pilot Study Grant amounts to over $35,000.

Dr. Fukuda's Management Team Advances into Final Round at Business Plan Competition
April 19, 2011 -- Dr. Fukuda and his AgComm management team have successfully advanced into the final round with 15 other competing business plans at the annual Business Plan Competition held at the University of Washington and hosted by their Foster Business School. The final round will take place on May 26 at the Bank of America Executive Education Center at 1pm and is open to the public.

New 'Conquer the Campus' Game Launched
March 28, 2011 -- UW Bothell's Center for Serious Play (CSP) teamed up with Dr. Kelvin Sung and his student developers to create a new version of their already popular 'Sammy Tours UWB' game. This new rendition, 'Conquer the Campus', is a meta game in which players play various mini-games in an attempt to earn 'conquer points' and conquer different locations around the UW Bothell campus. The player with the most 'conquer points' on Judgement Day will be the winner.

Dr. Zander Presents at SIGCSE 2011
March 10, 2011 -- Dr. Carol Zander and her research colleagues presented a paper, titled “Can Graduating Students Design: Revisited”, at the 2011 SIGCSE conference in Dallas, TX. A copy of their paper can be found at the ACM Digital Library.

Prof. Kelvin Sung & Students' Work Featured in Husky Herald
Nov. 10, 2010 -- UW Bothell’s student-run online newspaper, the Husky Herald, has featured an article (Game Creation for a Difference) which discusses Prof. Kelvin Sung and his students’ latest game creations from his CSS 498 Independent Study and CSS 497 Cooperative Education courses. In one of these games, ‘Sammy goes to UWB’, you play as a salamander and help him get to and explore the UW Bothell campus. The second is a Zune-based augmented reality game with a ‘who did it?’ theme in which you take a tour of the UW Bothell library.
