outdoor wellness leaders jumping by a lakeThe Outdoor Wellness Leaders (OWLs) are the trip planners and leaders for all Outdoor Wellness trips and events. They also work in the Nest Gear Shop and can help you prepare for your next outdoor adventure.

From rock climbing to backpacking to survival skills and more, the OWLs are ready to help you in planning your next outdoor adventure. 

Meet the 2021-2022 OWLs!


abbie smiling at a restaurant with the text meet abbieAbbie is a returning 2nd-year OWL! She is majoring is Mathematical Thinking, and Visualization & minoring in IT. She became an OWL because she loves the outdoors and wanted an learn more about Washington State outdoor activities. Abbie loves the kayaking, swimming, scuba diving, and, anything that can get her in the ocean! She is currently working on getting her scuba certification. Abbie's favorite things are reading and painting!

He is currently getting his Associates' Degree in Business at Cascadia College and plans to transfer to UW Bothell Business School! Max wanted to become an OWL to hopefully connect the two campuses through this program and to bring free outdoor education to everyone through his past experiences volunteering and instructing wilderness survival classes in Duvall/Carnation. He is really excited to connect the program with the education that he is bringing to the team, and looks forward to meeting everyone!

Her intended major is Earth System Sciences and she became an OWL because she adores the Earth and being outside. She feels as though she is her best self when outdoors and has always wanted to help others gain/regain their connection to nature. She believes that, especially during these turbulent times, we all need to reconnect with our roots. Rileigh's enjoys tending to her plant babies, reading, knitting, rock climbing, playing guitar, hiking, playing with her cat Leo, and spontaneously breaking into song!

Majoring in Biology, Sarah chose to become an OWL because she really wanted to be more involved in the UW Bothell community and create some awesome memories with students through outdoor activities! Sarah loves hiking, finding/drinking new teas, and going to the ocean whenever she can! She also loves reading (any genre!) and binge-watching tv shows/movies with friends! She would LOVE to hear all about your outdoor interests and all the different adventures you’ve had, places you’ve traveled, etc!
