Krug serves as Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs in an interim capacity.  In that role, she oversees all academic units, working with them to establish and further programmatic and financial objectives; collaborates with constituents across campus; and leads and promotes efforts to enhance campus culture for faculty and staff.  Prior to becoming interim Vice Chancellor, Krug served as Dean (interim) of the University of Washington School of Law, where she has served on the faculty since 2010, rising to full professor in 2016.  As Dean, Krug worked with faculty and other constituencies to address inequities in faculty compensation, promote diversity and inclusion, strengthen community engagement, increase funds for scholarship, and expand academic support resources, among other things.  From 2014 to 2016, she served as the School’s Associate Dean for Research and Faculty Development.

As a law professor, Krug teaches business and securities law courses, including courses on securities regulation, corporate governance, and business acquisitions.  Her research primarily revolves around securities regulation, particularly relating to the regulation of investment advisers, public and private investment funds, and other financial institutions.  She has spoken on securities law and corporate governance topics both throughout the United States and at international venues.

Krug holds M.A. and Ph.D. degrees in political science from Harvard University and received her J.D. degree from Harvard Law School, where she was an articles editor of the Harvard Law Review.  After clerking for a U.S. Court of Appeals judge, she worked in law firms in Boston and San Francisco, rising to equity partner.  During her time as a lawyer, Krug taught part-time at the University of California, Hastings College of the Law and at the University of California, Berkeley School of Law, where she was also a Research Fellow at the Berkeley Center for Law, Business and the Economy.
